Hello, long time no see...

To be honest, I'm pretty suprised that the original Halomaps.co.uk community continued on and survived for such a considerable amount of time, but in saying that, I am also glad. It is also nice to recognise a few familiar names.

Most, if not all of you are maybe wondering if I am indeed the original Muffmeister, and although it doesn't really matter anymore, I can assure you that yes, it is me. A lot of things have happened since 2004, but I am still me...

Not really sure what to say to be completely honest... I was hit by a wave of nostalgia when I searched the old website name to see if any remnants still remained, and hit this place.

Congrats to all who have been involved in helping to sustain a community.

Hope it really IS you...good to see you again after such a while, welcome back. The community's been through its ups and downs, and reached its height a couple years ago with a B.net group, associated clan, xfire chat sessions, thriving forum, and weekly community projects and events, all of which kept it going for far longer than almost any other Halo PC clan I remember hearing about.

Regarding history, I think we're on HMC4, as far as I can recall (leoht or someone can prolly answer the question better than I)...basically, the number denotes the forum and website revision we're on, which means we've been through about three websites since the original HaloMaps.

I know almost everyone from the original community's bouncing about in one way or another; a lot has happened in the past few years. From what I've heard, most everyone's either moved on to uni or other higher callings, while those of us who can still game have moved into Valve FPSes. I myself am working for a master's degree in a 4 year programme in the UK, which means little money and little time.

Hey-hey, nice to see an old face around these parts. :) What have you been up to these past years?

You can find several of us on Steam or Xfire playing various PC games. My name's Leoht on Xfire and Steam if you care to look me up. Most of us (and by most of us, I mean the three or four people I play with regularly) play Valve or Steam-enabled games these days, such as Team Fortress 2, Left 4 Dead, or Borderlands. As far as Halo goes, we occasionally jump into a game when we're feeling nostalgic. It's not the same as it used to be, but still fun for five or ten minutes. ;)

me15ter covered most of the history, but its still HMdz (I even remember the alt codes, 0199 and 0179).

Basically, the current site just crashed last fall (used to be pretty active, at least 40 posts/week) when most people started up college. A few dedicated members (me, Leoht, Boats (obaten), and moronperson (an RL friend of mine)) still play games quite frequently. Its been Team Fortress 2 and Borderlands recently. But we all check this board still, including Chazzy

hai im moronperson, like blazer said im one of his RL friends. i joined HMC a couple months after this site came into being. i play with these guys when i can, but because the interwebs at my college suck i dont do it as often as i like.

Ah...having Muffmeister come visit us again feels something like closure...I was truly shocked and then pleased to see his name for the last registered member. How quaint; perhaps someone ought to lock registration so that we will always be first and last?

And while I'm here - you have all been dear friends in my memory and I do miss you, although I'm afraid I don't game nearly enough to keep up with anyone. I came here lazily on Thanksgiving evening wondering if anyone was still here and knowing already how much things have slowed. I'm sure Muffmeister won't recognize me if he comes here again; my name was damang, sure, but even then I only saw the original pages of Halomaps.co.uk for a few days before everything seemed to shut down.

Hey Muff - if you ever happen back, I hope life's being fair to you. 2004 seems like a decade ago, and so much has happened and changed that I can hardly keep track of it all. I'd reminisce, but I wouldn't be able to decide where to start. How about we just have a beer for old time's sake - Cheers!
