I just got far cry 2 via steam (downloaded in 20 minutes :O ), and started today.

Its more of an adventure game than an FPS. Hour and a half of gameplay gives me one mission and around 5 firefights with anywhere from 1-15 people. I did the alternate version of the mission, going through a 'buddy' rather than following the exact mission. Instead of the target being in a motorcade, the target went into hiding, and was thus a bit easier to kill. I HATE the starting weapons. To get more/new weapons, you have to either steal them (stolen weapons arent as reliable and jam more often) or do adventure quests for the arms dealer to get new ones.

Anyone else getting it/have it?

I plan on getting it for the xbox. It looks amazing. I should have plenty of fun with the map editor too recreating some levels from goldeneye

I'll buy it someday off in the far, far future when it goes on sale. Never played the first one. The story/setting is just uninspiring to me. Dead Space on the other hand... omfg creepy. :D (Nazi DRM be damned).

You dont need to play the first one, its not really a sequel. I didnt find Jack Carver all that interesting either

So far the gameplay is nowhere near as retarted as FC1.

The AI is excellent most of the time. They will be stupid if they are out of range and run up like retards to you.
